[DSI Class] How to use the shipping schedule effectively?

The shipping schedule is a business tool for logistics personnel. How to make better use of the schedule and obtain more valuable information to assist business work? Let DSI tell you!
Take the European schedule of THE Alliance (HPL / YML / MOL / KLINE / NYK) as an example:

The above is the HPL schedule form. First of all, we need to summarize and convert the information. Combined with the schedule information of other alliance members (YML / MOL / KLINE / NYK), it is unified into a general form (see below):

What information can we learn?

Basic Information

Vessel name voyage / Closing time of single order / Order of port of arrival / Time of arrival / Shipping agency / berthing at the dock, etc.
These are the clear information on the schedule. In addition, if TBN or BLANK SAILING is displayed in the column of the ship name, it means the ship is pending or empty.

Ship operator
According to the ship name, we can query the ship operator, and the corresponding information that can be understood or inferred is as follows:
  1. According to the owner of the ship you carry and the actual ship operator, you can foresee that when the cargo needs to be processed under special circumstances, such as the need for several shipowners.
2. When loading dangerous goods, you must first know in advance whether the ship to be loaded can accept such dangerous goods. Secondly, it can be clarified that the approval of goods needs to go through several shipowners (only direct shipments are taken into consideration, without consideration of transhipment factors), so that the approval time of dangerous goods can be grasped foreseeably. Make timely and accurate stowage arrangements.
3. According to the ship operator, there may be more ships or more cabins in the alliance than usual. In this way, some preparations can be made for the large-ticket cargoes and special cargoes expected to be shipped this week. And communication.

Capacity of Cargo Ship
According to the name of the ship, we can query the cargo capacity of the ship, and the corresponding information that can be understood or inferred is as follows:
Taking the schedule of the THE alliance above as an example, the direct routes of the European routes departing from Qingdao are mainly about 18,000T ships, and subsequent MOL newly-built 20,000T ships have joined in succession, and there are also a few ships around 14000-15000T.
According to the schedule, it can be predicted that:
When a large ship of 20,000T comes, the owner's class may increase, it may be required in the market, and the price policy may be relaxed, etc .;
When coming to a boat around 14000-15000T, the owner's space may be reduced accordingly, there may be bursting, and the price policy may be tightened. Small containers may be difficult to ship heavy goods.
Based on the above judgment, we can prepare the shipment and necessary communication in advance and reasonably.

In summary, we should not only understand the basic information of the schedule, but also conduct more in-depth research to fully dig out more useful information.
If you want your workload easier every month, start by organizing the next month's schedule around the 20th of each month!
